Including People Affected by Mental Illness

“Every year in the United States, more than 25 percent of adults suffer from diagnosable mental illness,” and sadly, “many people are looking to the church for help, and many church leaders don’t know how to help.” I have experienced first-hand the effects of a member of our group that suffered from mental illness while everyone felt powerless to help. In this article, Amy Simpson proposes a variety of productive steps a group can take to help those with mental illnesses without being a medical practitioner.
